چکیده
Simple corrections are proposed to the basic theory of overdamped active Brownian motion, which allow one calculate effective diffusion coefficient and persistence length a self-propelled particle in medium with any dynamic viscosity.

متن کاملExperiments and Direct Numerical Simulations of binary collisions of miscible liquid droplets with different viscosities
Binary droplet collisions are of importance in a variety of practical applications comprising dispersed two-phase flows. The background of our research is the prediction of properties of particulate products formed in spray processes. To gain a more thorough understanding of the elementary sub-processes inside a spray, experiments and direct numerical simulations of binary droplet collisions ar...
متن کاملTranslational movements of macrophages through media of different viscosities.
The extent of the migration of guinea-pig peritoneal macrophages from capillary tubes over the surfaces of plastic Petri dishes, was quantitated by planimetry. It was observed that the amount of migration decreased as the viscosity of the medium was increased by the addition of agarose. An essential component of translational movement is the formation of adhesions between cells and their substr...
متن کاملNumerical simulations of coronal particle trapping
In this paper the trapping of high energy particles in solar coronal loops is addressed. Using simulations, the time evolution of electrons and protons trapped in a magnetic bottle is calculated under various scattering conditions and the results compared with loss-cone analysis. Thereafter the case of timedependent injection into a magnetic loop is addressed, and the results compared with prev...
متن کاملNumerical simulations of a fluid-particle coupling
We present numerical simulations of a model of coupling between a inviscid compressible fluid and a pointwise particle. The particle is seen as a moving interface, through which interface conditions are prescribed. Key points are to impose those conditions at the numerical level, and to deal with the coupling between an ordinary and a partial differential equations.
